Sociology & Psychology Student Organizations

  • (AKD). AKD is the International Sociology Honor Society dedicated to promoting excellence in scholarship and the advancement of social science research. Membership is open to sociology majors and minors who meet academic eligibility requirements. The society provides opportunities for networking, community service, and professional development. Dr. Carlos Chapman II is the faculty advisor.
  • (NSCS). NSCS is an honor society that recognizes and elevates high-achieving first- and second-year students across all disciplines. NSCS fosters academic excellence, leadership development, and community engagement. Dr. Junior Hopwood is the faculty advisor.
  • Pre - Health Society. This club supports students interested in pursuing health careers by offering academic resources, mentorship, and guidance. Members gain exposure to diverse career opportunities, prepare for professional school admission, and engage in health鈥憆elated service projects that promote inclusion and serve local communities. Dr. Chapman is the faculty co-advisor. 
  • Social Science Investigators (SSI). SSI club allows students to gain hands on research experience by building research skills, supporting community-based participatory research, working under faculty mentorship, and presenting at professional conferences. Dr. Carlos Chapman II is the faculty advisor.
  • Sociology and Psychology Club. This club is open to sociology and psychology majors for the purposes of providing a collegial support and fellowship, exchange of ideas, community service, service to the university and learning enhancement. Mrs. Cheryl Nickerson is the faculty advisor.
